+ do your best +

Routine has become an important word in my life. In the midst of all my goals are a bunch of sub-goals. Some goals are more important than others as we all know. The trick for me to obtain balance in my life now can be said simply in 3 words: Do Your Best.

Do your best in everything, and you’ll avoid any doubt in yourself. Now this can apply to your business, your relationships, health, and whatever projects and goals you set. Today’s entry has to do with health and the beautiful game of basketball. Me and my good friend, Pat, have been getting up at 6:30 to shoot some hoops and get some exercise. This new routine will get me in the right conditioning and prepare me for league (So I don’t pass out after the first quarter). It’s important to be a practice player in whatever it is that you do. In the end, if you put in the work, the rest will follow. So go apply it!

Now for the FUN stuff! Of course I love to turn everything into a photo opportunity! With that said, Pat has agreed to share his bball success, and what it takes to be an offensive weapon on the blacktop.

Posted in + lifestyle + on November 17th, 2008

I posted an image a couple months ago that I got to shoot Paige out in Waikiki Beach. Now that I have time, I wanted to share more of her beautiful shots from the shoot. I can’t wait to live out there in Hawaii one day. Just for a year or two…haha

I have to learn how to surf asap! Maybe Paige can teach me.

+ Samantha has arrived +

Posted in + my life + on November 13th, 2008

Everybody meet my new niece, Samantha Elizabeth. She is already a truly beautiful cutie pie who will get a million pictures of herself. I’m so happy to have her in my life. Bev held her for the first time today and fell in love.

I love this pic I captured of my dad with Sam. It’s the first time he held Sam yesterday. I just know I’m really going to cherish this picture in the future.

In every relationship, I love the stories of how those two people met. Did they meet through grade school? At a bar? Did they bump into each other on the street? I especially love the rare occurrences when people meet through BLOGS!

Months ago I was surfing through a sea of blogs. One of the most notorious bloggers out there is the innovative photographer, Gary Fong. We all know the list goes on and on with Gary.

He was one of the most inspiring pioneers that led wedding photography into the realm of art. Photojournalism was let out of the cage when Gary came into the wedding scene, and he really played a huge role in my direction towards the world of weddings.

Gary also invented the famous Lightsphere! This accessory became a huge hit in our photography world. There was no other diffuser out there like it, and the fact that it was invented by Mr. Fong made it sell like hotcakes! Even after retirement, Gary continues to look out for photographers and share his tips and tricks that made him successful.

Give away everything you know, and everything will come back.

That’s what I’ve learned from Gary. So back to John and Tiffany. As many other photags know, Gary has a famous blog that he updates like every freakin day. One day, Missy and Gary decided to blog about Tiffany, who is Miss Lightpshere! They wrote that she had just gotten engaged, and that she was looking for a photographer. They put her email on the blog and the rest is history!

I remembering emailing her that day and thought to myself, ” That would be so funny if she ended up hiring me.” I don’t know how many other photographers emailed her, but I was just so honored that she chose me to shoot her big day. I had such a blast shooting this wedding also. Everyone was so nice, and as you can see in the pictures, everyone knows how to party! Tiffany and John are two of of the nicest people I have ever met. It was truly a pleasure. Big thanks to Gary and Missy again for putting this opportunity out there. I hope I can return the favor to you and for the next person!
